About North London Damp & Waterproofing

A single, local point of contact for every damp, mould, waterproofing and timber problem in North London — and an honest explanation of how we work.

Who is North London Damp & Waterproofing? North London Damp & Waterproofing is a North London service brand that arranges damp surveys, mould removal, basement waterproofing and timber treatment for homeowners, landlords and buyers. We are not the contractor: with your consent, we pass your enquiry to an appropriate independent qualified provider who carries out the survey and any treatment. Our role is matching your problem to the right specialist and holding the work to recognised standards — PCA good practice, BS 6576 for damp diagnosis and BS 8102 for structural waterproofing.

Why we exist

Damp is the most misdiagnosed problem in British housing. Condensation gets treated as rising damp; penetrating damp gets painted over; basements get tanked without addressing water pressure. Homeowners pay twice — once for the wrong fix, then again for the right one. North London's housing stock makes this worse: solid-wall Victorian and Edwardian terraces, converted flats with poor ventilation, and period basements sitting on London Clay, which the British Geological Survey maps as highly shrinkable and poorly draining. It holds moisture against foundations all year round.

We built this service — and the Knowledge Centre and free tools around it — so that people in Barnet, Enfield, Islington, Camden, Haringey and every surrounding area can understand their problem first, then get it fixed properly once.

How we work

  1. You get in touch. Call 020 7946 0958 or use the contact form. Tell us what you've noticed — you don't need to know the cause.
  2. We arrange the survey. With your explicit consent, your details go to a vetted independent qualified provider whose expertise matches your problem — damp and timber surveying, condensation and ventilation, or structural waterproofing.
  3. You get a diagnosis and a written scope. Findings, recommended treatment and indicative costs, before anything is agreed. No pressure, no obligation.
  4. Treatment proceeds when you say so. The provider carries out the work; you deal with real people accountable for the result.

The standards we hold work to

  • Property Care Association (PCA) — the UK industry body for damp, waterproofing and timber; we expect survey and treatment methods to follow PCA good-practice guidance.
  • BS 6576 — the British Standard code of practice for diagnosing rising damp and installing chemical damp proof courses.
  • BS 8102 — the British Standard for protecting below-ground structures against water ingress, governing basement and cellar waterproofing design.
  • TrustMark — the government-endorsed quality mark we look for when vetting providers.
  • Awaab's Law & HHSRS — the legal framework for damp and mould in rented homes, reflected in our landlord compliance service.

We reference these bodies and standards because they define good work — not to imply memberships or accreditations we don't separately state. If a specific credential matters to you, ask and we'll confirm what the provider assigned to your job holds.

What we will never do

  • No invented reviews, testimonials or case studies — trust content appears here only when it's real and verifiable.
  • No scare tactics. If it's condensation, we'll say so — the fix may cost a few hundred pounds, not thousands.
  • No quotations by phone. Every price on this site is an indicative range; the survey sets the real scope.
  • No sharing your details without your explicit, recorded consent — see how we use your data.
